“A ray of skanked up sunshine! Love the original Cajun Jollof, but genius Grant Phabao has up’d the tempo and brought things to the boil with his Ska remix! …” (Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club BBC radio / UK - Lister from Red Dwarf :0 )

“Love the Horatio Luna remix!” (Ennio Styles-Stylin’ / Heard & Felt / Worldwide FM / Bandcamp Weekly)

“Dig the Sabrosa and Horatio Luna remixes, will play on the show!” (Sampology / Worldwide FM)

"Unashamedly jazzy drum n bass remix of Little Mountain ! Luv it! Absolutely wicked! This is one of those tunes, that I wish I'ld written!"
(London Elektricity / Hospital Records UK)

Instrumental Jazz funk and gritty rare grooves ensemble from down-under - Kerbside Collection’s 3rd album "Smoke Signals" gets the re-use, re-cycled treatment with a variety of remixes and reworks from raw disco beats, Japanese neo-soul, ska, reggae-dub, tropical afro house, funky hip hop, downtempo electronica and even some 90’s jungle drum’n’bass reinterpretations of the original album tracks?!

80% Australian remixers feature including Horatio Luna (30/70 - Mandarin Dreams/La Sape), Blunted Stylus, TwoDee, Sam Stosuur, Sabrosa Sound System, alongside internationals Grant Phabao (Paris DJs / France), Chikashi Nishiwaki & Emi (Japan), and Mzuzu (Germany). The package of remixes opens with ‘man-of-the-moment’ Horatio Luna (La Sape / 30/70 Bass player / Mandarin Dreams / Sunnyside Up Brownswood compilation / Melbourne) clearing the air with his galactic space-jazz-beats and bit-crushed rework of "Yellow Fellow". Followed by legendary first generation Australia beats and breaks producer Blunted Stylus (Jigzaw Geoff/ex OG Resin Dogs) chopping up Traffic into a raw disco, NYC b-boy beats stomper, before Grant Phabao (Paris DJs) takes things to the sweaty Caribbean with his uptempo ska version of "Cajun Jollof"!

Two Dee also maintains the Jamaican vibes with his sizzling dub-reggae re-cook of the same track conjuring up some vintage King-Tubby x early Bouzou Bajou/Fat Freddy’s Drop/South Pacific sounds. Sabrosa keep things tropical with their futuristic ‘benga styled’ afro club re-rub of "Afro Struttin’"; Hamburg’s Mzuzu (Pitch&Scratch/Unbelievable Two) re-edits "NOLA" with some slinky, live hip hop and extra guitar touches; before things simmer down with a Japanese neo-soul flavoured re-work of "Little Mountain" by Chikashi Nishiwaki featuring Emi, complete with lyrics sung in English and Japanese and extra sax for fans of Jose James, Clara Hill, Moonchild! Aussie ‘vapour wave’ beat-taper Bakmahn keeps things chilled constructing a sofa-surfing, downtempo rework of his brother’s track (keeping things in the family), before switching it into up tempo territory with his ‘Jackin’ deep, jazzy-house version of the same track.

Closing out the release is Astro Travellers/Tiana Khasi/Middle Name Dance Band bass-man Sam Stosuur with his steaming, analogue-afro-house ‘peak-time’ extended work-out of "Afro Struttin’" complete with wobbly synths, galactic sound effects, fiery percussion and soaring organ solo reminiscent of some classic S.U.M.O / Detroit techno-jazz / Underground Resistance / Kevin Saunderson sounds. A jungle inspired re-work akin to some classic late 90’s Adam-F, LTJ Bukem, D-Kay, Makoto drum ‘n’ bass, and another funky edit remix from Mzuzu, make for a wide spectrum of remixes from 80% Australian sources x international collaborations.
